Wester Ross is one of the finest areas in Europe for watching marine wildlife. Boat trips are available from Gairloch Harbour (adjacent to the Old Inn) for both wildlife watching and sea angling. The ‘Orca’ (pictured below) is the top boat for whale and dolphin sightings and has 3-hour trips, which take you up to 15 miles offshore to areas where you have a realistic chance of sighting whales. www.hebridean-whale-cruises.co.uk

Over the past few years sightings have been made of Minke, Sei, Sperm, Orca, Humpback, Pilot and Bottlenose Whales; Common, White Beaked and Risso’s Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises, Basking Sharks.

The local 9-hole golf club is superbly maintained and offers glorious views to The Isle of Skye, and is only a short walk from The Old Inn. A pony trekking center is situated within walking distance further up the glen.
